Innovative Trambús Promises to Transform Transportation in Buenos Aires

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has announced the acquisition of 59 standard low-floor electric buses with a capacity for between 70 and 85 passengers, including those traveling seated and standing. All these buses will have air conditioning and will have their own batteries for power supply.

In addition to these buses, 60 units of specialized equipment will be acquired to charge the electric buses with their respective power chargers. These vehicles will be equipped with air conditioning and their own batteries.

Trambuses are large electric or hybrid vehicles with a modern and eco-friendly design that circulate on exclusive lanes. This allows them to avoid traffic and maintain a constant and efficient speed to transport more people, reaching their destination within the stipulated times.

Unlike traditional trams, Trambuses do not require tracks, which significantly reduces the infrastructure cost. With the implementation of these vehicles, the City of Buenos Aires aims to innovate in the coastal area, using cleaner and more sustainable transportation methods to reduce polluting emissions and improve the quality of life in the city.

It is speculated that the urban landscape of the City of Buenos Aires could soon change with the arrival of the Trambus, a modern electric tram that promises to change the modality of urban transportation. This new mode of transport would connect two very busy tourist points in the city, providing a more efficient and eco-friendly alternative.

The Government of the City launched a proposal to acquire electric vehicles that will be part of the new Coastal Corridor with electromobility, connecting Retiro and Ciudad Universitaria in Belgrano. The project will cover Rafael Obligado Avenue and offer panoramic views of the La Plata River, along the Buenos Aires waterfront.

The Trambus will allow more people to be transported in less time than a conventional public transport service. With a rollout period of 36 months, this new mode of transport will seek to improve the quality of transport for thousands of people who use it.

In addition, 15 more buses will be acquired, known as articulated buses, with a capacity for 120 passengers. The Trambus is already in use in different cities around the world, such as Mexico City, Quito, Bogotá, Nantes, Paris, Barcelona, Beijing, Shanghai, Tehran, Rabat, and others, demonstrating its effectiveness in urban mobility.
